Standardised Headings for Outlines
All CourseMonster's published outlines consistently use the same headings, in a common order. We know from experience that customers prefer this as it makes it easier to confirm a course meets their requirements and also to compare it against other courses. It also helps with data management and longevity.
The following decribes the standard that we follow - most of which is already common across the industry. Preparing your outlines using the same standard will help us and your customers. Not all the heading areas are required for all courses, but it helps the customer to have as much information as possible.
Overview
Brief opening description: ideally a small paragraph which could be used on its own when listing courses, as well as introduce the main course outline. At worst ALL courses should at least have this heading!
Audience
Describe who this course is targeted to, e.g. "For managers who need to understand the legislation around..."
or "For IT professionals looking to keep their blah blah skills up to date..."
Skills Gained
A brief description of what will be learnt (rather than a full list of items covered), e.g. "Covering all the
basics of the new VB technologies"; "Understand all the legal aspects of running a creche, how to market it, and
how to keep customers happy...".
Examinations
A list or description of examinations which will, or can be, taken following completion of this course.
Prerequisites
A list of courses that should be taken before this one, or a description of the basic skill level the delegate
should have reached: e.g. "Delegates should have a good prior understanding of blah blah"; "Be able to use blah
blah to a good level"; or "Untaken MS456 - Learning Excel 2007 Basics".
Course Outline
A detailed list of items covered in the training; usually bullet points (perhaps separated by sub headings). Perhaps
the timetable of training for the day with timings?
Suggested Follow-on Courses
A list of courses or topic areas that might suitably follow having successfully completed this training programme.
